It’s time for a Chicago ward map for the people, by the people.

Welcome to the Community of Interest and ward mapping tool used by the Chicago Advisory Redistricting Commission.

The Commission is using this tool to draw a fair and reasonable ward map that keeps communities together.Want to try drawing a ward map yourself? You can! To draw a ward map, click the purple button below labeled '50 Wards Built out of Blocks.' We also need your input on the communities of Chicago - you can draw a map of that too, and submit a link to it at the CARC submission portal.

To display your map publicly on this page, be sure to click "Share to Gallery" after you've saved your map using the 'Save' button in the upper right hand corner of the app.

    About

Chicago's ward boundaries must be redrawn every 10 years using U.S. Census data in order to make fifty wards of roughly equal population.

This mapping module displays Block level population according to the results of the 2020 Census.

This site was built by Chris Kanich using Districtr, an open-source web app that empowers all people to draw districting plans.
